JOEL OSTEEN Says he is Shunning the Lavish Lifetyle!!!

225px-joel_osteen_smiling.jpg

If the evangelical world is looking for a poster child to offset the negative publicity surrounding rich televangelists, Joel Osteen would be a good choice.
Osteen is among the nation’s most widely recognized television ministers, trailing only Billy Graham and Rick Warren, and in 2006 was named the most influential Christian in America by readers of Church Report magazine. A best-selling author of religious and inspirational books, Osteen brings his rock-star status to Orlando tonight and Friday at Amway Arena.
The contrast is stark between Osteen and the six televangelists suspected by Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley of living lavish lifestyles — large estates, vacation homes, exotic trips, luxury cars and private jets — at the expense of their tax-exempt television ministries. Among the accused are Paula and Randy White of Tampa, and Benny Hinn, formerly of Orlando.Author Herbert E. Brown, in his 2001 book, characterized such high-living pastors as “pimps in the pulpit.”Osteen lives a much different life.

He has not taken a salary from his Houston megachurch for two years. He owns one house — the same one he and his wife, Victoria, have lived in for 13 years — and until recently he drove a 9-year-old car he inherited from his late father. Osteen pays his own hotel bills, and there is no private jet.

Although the upbeat minister does take collections at services, netting an estimated $43 million a year, Osteen does not ask for money on his broadcasts, which reach an estimated 7 million viewers weekly in the U.S. and 100 other countries. Nonetheless, an additional $30 million comes through the mail. His most recent book deal earned him a $13 million advance.

“We make plenty of money from our books,” said Osteen, 44. “But we just live normal lives. We try to be conservative and honor God with our life and with our example.”

Osteen refuses to condemn the targets of Grassley’s inquiry, or Richard Roberts, who quit as president of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., amid charges that he used school funds and facilities for his family.

“While I never like to hear negative things about friends and other ministers, I choose to believe the very best in them,” Osteen said.

Osteen leads the 48,000-member Lakewood Church in Houston. Services border on the nonsectarian, with no crosses in evidence. Osteen’s theology is more inspirational than theological, with a strong emphasis on self-help, in the feel-good tradition of Norman Vincent Peale and Robert Schuller. Osteen speaks from a lectern he prefers to call a “podium,” rather than a “pulpit.” His books are filled with lots of exclamation points, but the word Jesus rarely appears.

Osteen’s first book, Your Best Life Now: 7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential, sold millions of copies. His latest, Become a Better You: 7 Keys to Improving Your Life Every Day, is on The New York Times best-seller list, and propelled him onto 60 Minutes and Larry King Live, as well as several magazine covers.

In his new book, Osteen points to himself as an example of unlocking hidden potential. A college dropout, he preached for the first time when his father, who founded Lakewood Church, became ill and later died. For the preceding 17 years, Joel Osteen had worked behind the scenes in production at the television ministry.

The success of these books raises questions about how religious figures should handle the millions of dollars in royalties and contributions.

Osteen is not the only prominent religious figure who tries to navigate these issues and, by doing so, differentiate himself from such controversies.

Warren, for example, has repaid every dollar he has earned in the pulpit of Saddleback Church in Orange County, Calif., and pledged to give away 90 percent of his book royalties. He accepts no speaking fees and is not as reluctant as Osteen to criticize those who are less altruistic.

“The opulent lifestyles of televangelists make me sick,” said Warren, of those ministries now under investigation. The scandals, he said, flow from the “prosperity gospel” that many televangelists preach.

“Success in any area often creates a spirit of entitlement — ‘I deserve this’ — that is the exact opposite of servant leadership,” Warren said.

Osteen agrees, offering his own definition of the prosperity gospel: “I never preach a message on money,” he said. “I do believe that God wants us to be blessed, to have good marriages, to have peace in our minds, to have health, to have money to pay our bills. I think God wants us to excel. But everyone isn’t going to be rich — if we’re talking about money.”

Kanye West Mother Dead At 58

kanye.jpg

So the world (and some church folks) want to know how did Kanye West Mother die? What happened? How did someone with seemingly perfect health just all of a sudden pass away with almost no warning signs? Why did she have to die? Who has these answers?

So, you thought this was going to be an article about Kanye West and his deceased mother. You thought you had stumbled on yet another article which is going to give you the juicy answers you need. Well, you came to the right blog, but this post has nothing to do with Kanye nor his mother or anyone else in the secular world. It has to do with YOUR soul!

Dear friend, where will you spend eternity if the Lord was to take the very breath that you have out of your body? Will you go to heaven or hell? Cant answer that question right now. I’ll help you make up your mind.

Jesus said, unless a man is born of the water and of the Spirit he cannot inherit the kingdom of God. (Read John 3) So you ask, with all the “hell on earth” that I am going through, how in the world can I be “born again”? Do I shake the preachers hand? Do I join the church down the block from my house? Do I say some pre-printed prayers out of a liturgical book? What do I do? Glad you asked………….

Acts 2:38 says to REPENT (that means to have Godly sorrow, telling God you are sorry) and be baptised every one of you (that means for you to literally be immersed in water as if getting in a pool or bathtub) in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ (not in the familiar titles Father, Son, Holy Ghost….because JESUS is the Father in creation, the Son in the redeeming of the world and the Holy Ghost in the church age we live in today) for the remission (which is forgiveness) of your sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (not Casper, Ms. Cleo or some spooky spirit).

This coupled with living  Holy and Sanctified life before God and Man will allow you to spend eternity with the Lord. Choose GOD today, for the hour is drawing when you wont be able to call on Him any longer. Find yourself a good Apostolic Pentecostal Church to attend. One where the truth is being preached (because the way has already been made). Get baptised in His name and filled with the Holy Ghost. I promise you, you wont have to wonder any longer where you will spend eternity,

…….by the way, Kanyes mother (Donda West) died because of complications with plastic surgery. Kanye, I’m praying for you and your family, that all of you find the Lord Jesus in this sad hour of your life.

Stick around, read the rest of my Blog. ….and since Jesus Christ is the Almighty God, we cannot be defeated!

THE TRUTH BEHIND FRATERNITIES AND SORORITIES

sigma.jpgomega.gifdelta.jpgkappa.gifalpha.png

Letter jackets, line names, party lines, step shows, and popularity. These are the most coveted vanities that college students long for during their undergraduate tenure. I was certainly one who wanted such a lifestyle. Last year around September I saw a DVD series by Elder G. Craig Lewis called the Truth Behind Hip Hop which breaks down the true agenda of Hip Hop and R&B music through the word of God. During the series he began to talk about how my personal walk with God was being contaminated and jeopardized by wanting to associate myself with Greek life. How you ask? Well, let’s see what the word of God says about this.

Present Day Idolatry Right under Our Nose

In Exodus 20:3-5 God says, “You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself any idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God.”

Let’s focus on a couple of words in that scripture so that we can take that and build on it. The word “idol” is defined as a person or thing that is adored and highly esteemed. The word “worship” means to revere, adore, or pay homage to someone. By these definitions secret societies, fraternities, and sororities are idols. Why? Because these organizations are praised, adored, and highly esteemed so much that it literally takes the place of God himself in people’s hearts. Don’t believe me? How many people you know have ever been to a party or step show hosted by some Greek organization on a Saturday night, and because you were so tired and sleepy Sunday morning you didn’t get up and worship God in his house? Or how many Christians in secret organizations find the time to make step practice, meetings, or lodge gatherings, but don’t witness to someone about Christ or study His word? My first point is that secret societies such as Greek fraternities and sororities are idols to themselves and to people who long to be a member of them.

In ancient Greece and Egypt, especially around the times of the Old Testament, the inhabitants of these regions worshiped idols or false gods. We all know them because they made us learn about them in grade school: Cupid, Zeus, Athena, Ra (sun god), Hades, etc. Demonic forces have used places like these for thousands of years to promote idol worship because they know that idolatry puts a barrier between the participant and God. Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness in this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places.” So this means that demons use people to establish their antichrist agenda, by antichrist I mean anything opposite of the word of God, in the Earth.

My second point is that demons used the founders of secret societies and Greek/Egyptian organizations to create a stronghold for young people for years to come. How do I know that demons did this? Because demons always work against the word of God, that’s their job. Man wouldn’t purposely do something against God’s word unless they were deceived or influenced by unclean spirits, just as Eve was deceived by Satan. For instance, a form of idol worship in the Old Testament was to play music, dance, and chant in order to get their god to hear them. This is denoted in Exodus 32:19 when the children of Israel danced around the golden calf as Moses was away speaking with God, and in I Kings 18:26 when the prophets of idol god Baal danced, chanted, and marked themselves around an alter to try to prove their god was stronger than the Lord. Corrupt kings in the Old Testament, such as Nebuchadnezzar, would force people to pledge their allegiance to the idol god that the king set up for himself (Daniel 3). Hmmm… sounds familiar? Today organizations play music, dance, and chant to the Greek and Egyptian gods. You might think that they are dancing for fun, but I’m trying to show you where that activity originated. They give you line names derived from false Greek Gods like Ares, they encourage you to tattoo and brand yourself like the false prophets did, they also require that you pledge your life, your faith, and your trust to your brothers, sisters, and the name of their organization. People listen, demons don’t change and God doesn’t change. What demons did in the Old Testament thousands of years ago they’re also doing today. If idolatry was not pleasing to God then, do you really think it’s cool now because some community service gets done, or because their national leaders say it’s good for all members to go to church and claim to believe in God? Don’t fool yourself. This truly is present day idolatry right on our campus, and God demands that it stops now!!!

The Anti-Christ Agenda

What do I mean by anti-Christ agenda? No, I’m not talking about the person called the Anti-Christ described in the book of Revelation. I’m talking about the mindset and doctrine that he represents. Let’s go to some examples in scripture to show what I’m talking about. Proverbs 20:1 says, “Wine is a mocker, strong drink a riotous brawler; and whoever errs or reels because of it is not wise.” Hosea 4:11 says, “Harlotry (fornication) and wine and new wine take away the heart and the mind and the spiritual understanding.” So from the word of God we see that beer (wine) and strong drink (liquor) take away spiritual understanding and those who indulge in the consumption of these are not wise. But what do the organizations promote? Thirsty Thursdays, dollar drinks, free drinks, and special drinks that only that organization can make. On top of that, poor folks pledging are killed every year from alcohol poisoning and we, the church, say nothing. This conflicts with the word of God.

I Corinthians 7:9 says, “But if they have not self-control (restraint of their passions), they should marry. For it is better to marry than to be a flame [with passion and torture continually with ungratified desire].” Organizations continuously promote an atmosphere where fornication and other perverse sexual acts are encouraged with multiple partners across the campus. They hand out condoms, give seminars on safe sex, condone and promote homosexuality, and in some cases spread STDs. Students just coming to this university fall victim to the hype that surrounds these organizations and as a result deliberately disobey God’s commands. This also conflicts with the word of God.

In Matthew 22:37 Jesus says, “And He replied to him, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and your entire mind (intellect).” In order for us to love Him we must obey His commandments. Organizations encourage members as well as potential members to dedicate all their time and efforts to their success. These organizations want you to study their history, attend their seminars on Wednesdays during Bible study, do everything they ask, and sacrifice your entire life so that they can continue to prosper. If all your time is committed to this organization, how can you serve the Lord with everything you have? This is the third and greatest conflict with the Word of God.

A Proclamation from the Lord

As an ambassador for Christ (II Corinthians 5:20) it is my responsibility to boldly proclaim the will of God to this campus and to let people know that the grace of God is infinite. As I close, I want to point out the difference between sin and iniquity and how those words are related to this topic.

Sin is anything that is against the word of God, while iniquity is intentional sin. Now that I’ve shown you through the word of God that following, involving, supporting, and wanting to join fraternities, sororities, and other secret societies are a sin, I bring to you a bold proclamation from the mouth of God.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20, says “I call heaven and earth to witness this day against you that I have set before you life and death, the blessings and the curses; therefore choose life that your descendants may live. Any may love the Lord your God, obey His voice, and cling to Him. For He is your life and the length of your days that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Deuteronomy 28:15 says, “But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee.”

I speak these words prophetically as a messenger on this Earth. Every secret organization, fraternity, and sorority, listen up. If you call yourself a Christian, then it is impossible to grow spiritually and walk in His perfect will for your life while you worship false gods and wear their letters upon your body. If you choose to take the word of God to heart and obey it by denouncing your involvement and affiliation with the organization, you will be choosing life and the Lord will honor that sacrifice publicly. He will send blessings upon you and your household, because you have chosen to obey Him despite what people say. Please don’t ignore His word, pray for guidance from His Holy Spirit and allow Him to line you up with His will. My prayer is that God’s anointing will cause the fighting, shooting, stealing, fornication, idolatry, drinking, gossiping, and lying that have been happening on this campus because of the fraternities and sororities to stop as students like you read this article and decide to follow the Lord Jesus. I know that as Prairie View students and faculty truly obey God’s word totally without compromise and offer ourselves as sacrifices, the Lord Jesus will prosper this school and the entire nation will see the manifestation of His glory on this campus. Hallelujah.

If you choose not to listen to this warning, read Deuteronomy 28:15 to find out what is in store for you. Again, please don’t ignore this warning because God’s love is for everyone who hearkens unto His voice, but His wrath is reserved for those who choose to disobey Him.

THIS WAS WRITTEN BY A STUDENT “UNKNOWN” AT PRAIRE VIEW A&M UNIVERSITY

THE POPE OF PENTECOST REJECTS ALL FORMS OF FRATERNITIES AND SORORITIES AND ANY OTHER FORM OF SECREAT SOCIETIES AS IT IS NOT OF THE WILL OF GOD FOR HIS CHILDREN TO BE PARTICIPANTS OF SUCH ORGANIZATIONS.

Bishop Long blasts senator’s request for financial info

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 11/11/07

Bishop Eddie Long broke his silence Sunday about receiving a letter from a powerful senator asking for financial and board records from New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia.

Long called the request by Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) “unjust,” “intrusive,” and “an attack on our religious freedom and privacy rights,” during a brief address to the congregation during a morning service.

A guest minister was in the pulpit, so Long did not preach.

Other than releasing a statement last week, saying he would cooperate with the request, Long had been quiet.

His cross-town friend, the Rev. Creflo Dollar of World Changers Church International of College Park, had talked to the press last week about a similar letter he received. He also expressed concerns about governmental intrusion into religion.

Grassley is the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, which has some oversight powers of nonprofits and charities. He asked for documents from six U.S. televangelism ministries. The other four are Randy and Paula White of Tampa, the Rev. Benny Hinn, and Kenneth and Gloria Copeland of Texas, and David and Joyce Meyer of Missouri.

Grassley said stories of excessive lifestyles and spending by ministry leaders caused him to wonder whether the tax breaks given to ministries were being abused to enrich those involved.

His has questioned other charities in previous years, including the Red Cross and the United Way.

Grassley said he is not interested in religion or doctrine, only the tax issues.

Long saw it as an attack.

“[Grassley] wants to impose the will of government on our religious rights,” he said.

Many in the emotional and supportive crowd stood and cheered Long several times during his brief statement.

Dollar did not address the issue during an early service Sunday.

Churchgoers at the Atlanta ministries stood by their pastors.

Vincent Pearson of Palmetto, a longtime member at World Changers, identified Dollar and Long as part of a long list of African-American leaders or role models who have come what he considers unfair attack. Pearson said, “I feel he’s justified in making sure none of the rights of him and other are being violated by those delving into this.”

Dollar said last week that he would cooperate with any “valid” request, and that a team of legal experts was going over it.

Whitney B. Williams of Marietta, a New Birth member said after the service, “That senator is a clown.”

He resents the financial dispersions the letters could cast on Long.

“Bishop is a good man,” Williams said. “What they are saying is wrong.”

- Staff writer S.A. Reid contributed to this article.

WASHINGTON (AP)- The top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee said Tuesday he has launched an investigation into alleged financial wrongdoing involving six well-known televangelists — including two based in Georgia.

Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa sent letters to six Christian media ministries this week requesting information about their expenses, executive compensation and amenities given to executives.

Among them are Bishop Eddie Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia and Creflo Dollar Ministries of College Park.

Grassley said he is following up on complaints from the public and news coverage. He said the allegations involve governing boards that aren’t independent and allow generous salaries and housing allowances and amenities such as private jets and Rolls Royces.

Also named by Grassley as targets of the investigation are Paula White Ministries of Tampa, Florida; Benny Hinn Ministries of Grapevine, Texas; Joyce Meyer Ministries of Fenton, Missouri; and Kenneth Copeland Ministries of Newark, Texas.

Church Spotlight: Zion Upper Room Apostolic Faith Church

Zion Upper Room Apostolic Faith Church (AAOC) in Gallatin TN is Nashville’s best kept secret (Bishop Isaac Williams, JR.  Pastor). 95% of this Apostolic Church is under the age of 35. The Bishop has 10 kids and this church still teaches that your heels and toes must be in. I LOVE IT! No make up, no pants, no earrings and worldly events like movies! Listen to this choir! Listen to the female Hammond B3 Organ player in the background. Its amazing! Zion, keep it up! Teach those young people the “old school” ways of holiness! The best is yet to come. (FYI: My ex-girlfriend goes to this church, and get this, I use to make her wear the prayer veil……and her church doesn’t even believe in head coverings for women….LAWD HELP ME!)

My good friend TD Jakes??????????

reposition.jpg

I am so tired of Christian preachers (especially those that know about the Oneness Faith) who are FRIENDS OF THE WORLD instead of being a FRIEND OF GOD! Why is it that TD Jakes is on Dr. Phil yet again. This time its with Master P, Rev. Al Sharpton, an Islamic Former Member of the NAACP and some other non-christians. The topic is the “N” word and Nooses and Teen’s wanting birth control. Not once has TD Jakes mentioned anything abut giving your life to Christ, the need for this sinful nation to turn back to GOD there CREATOR and to live a HOLY AND SANCTIFIED LIFE before the Lord utilizing the infilling of the Holy Ghost’s power! Doesn’t TD Jakes have enough money to get his own TV show, air it on prime time television and preach JESUS! Instead, he is preferring to endorse his new book (with Dr. Phil as the writer of the Forward portion of the book) and spewing an inspirational message to godless people who need the Lord and not some Gospel of Emotional Sensationalism! T.D. Jakes, you really disappoint me, yet, you are showing me that I need to do more to attempt to save souls for the Lord. Thank you TD Jakes for proving to me and the entire world that you are NOT a friend of GOD but a FRIEND of the World! For those of you who think while he is OFF the air that he is witnessing, let it be known that HE IS NOT doing that. These people have no intentions of coming to the Potters House! TD Jakes, be the BISHOP that God has called you to be and not an Oracle of Inspiration.

James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Homegoing of Bishop Phillip Coleman, Sr. of Greater Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Faith Church

bishop.jpg

By Dr. Janice K. Neal-Vincent
Contributing Writer

The voice of one of Jackson’s most influential men of the cloth lured thousands of people inside the sanctuary of Greater Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Faith Church on Saturday, October 13, 2007. The celebration commenced at 10:00 a.m. and ended at 4:30 p.m. Three large screens showed Bishop Phillip Coleman, Sr., founder and pastor of Greater Bethlehem Temple, talking about his life and encounters with the Lord. Those present learned that in 1954 Elder (then) Coleman moved his family back to Jackson and started in 1955 the first apostolic church in the Metro Jackson Area. With five members the church began in Coleman’s parents’ home.  In 1955 Coleman purchased three lots on Lynch Street in subdivision No. 2 and structured a church that had a seating capacity of 150. Over time the congregation grew to more than 800 members, and in 1970 moved to the present facility at 1505 Robinson Street. In 1997 an honorary doctorate in theology from the Pentecostal Bible College, Tuskegee, Alabama, was bestowed upon Coleman. The combined Greater Bethlehem Temple Church Mass choir and the Southeastern District Council choir moved well-wishers to their feet with loved tunes. Among the songs were “Jesus I Love You;” Will You be Ready When Jesus Comes?” “Lord I Will Lift Mine Eyes to the Hills;” “I Don’t Feel No Ways Tired;” and “Going Up Yonder.” Amidst the songs were thunderous hand clapping and foot stomping from members of the dais to onlookers in the aisles. Additionally, Coleman’s homegoing celebration produced numerous accolades from his family, congregation, city officials, and pentecostal leadership. His devoted spouse and first lady, Sarah L. McNeil Coleman, explained that it was difficult for her to adjust to him not being around, but “Bishop left with dignity. The smile [he left with] is still on his face.” With humor she added, “I’m going to live as long as I can and I’ll die when I can’t handle it.” Married into the family, Ramona Jones, commented in an interview that she and her husband, Lonzell (Coleman’s nephew) were concerned that a physician thought that their oldest daughter, Monica LaJoy (now 21) would never walk when she was three-years-old. “Bishop Coleman prayed and instructed us to go to the doctor. He said the doctor would not find anything because Monica was healed. When we went to the doctor, he didn’t find a problem. Monica is actively engaged and has her own dance ministry for the Lord.” A member of Greater Bethlehem Temple since 1988, Glenda Webster (49) mentioned that Coleman and his family took her in their home and treated her like she was one of them. She reflected, “Bishop Coleman was a man who loved God and people. He opened himself up to help anyone in need, despite race, color, or creed.” Webster continued, “He taught us [the congregation] what we needed directly from the Holy Bible…Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates don’t measure up. He made himself available to us…” Among officials in attendance were Mayor Frank Melton, City Councilman Marshand Crisler of Ward 6; Hinds County District Attornry Elect Robert Shuler Smith, Chief of Police Shirlene Anderson; Hinds County Coroner Sharon G. Stewart, Hinds County Supervisor Peggy Hobson-Calhoun, former City Councilman Robert Williams; former Congressman and Secretary of Agriculture Mike Espy; and gubernatorial candidate John Arthur Eaves. Among the bishopric were Lewis Stallworth, Sr. of Stockton, California; Charles Ellis, III of Detroit, Michigan; Michael E. Ford, Sr. of Louisville, Kentucky; John T. Leslie, Jr. of Washington, D. C.; J. E. Moore of Joliet, Illinois; and Alfred Singleton, Presiding Bishop of Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith (P.C.A.F.) from Lansing, Michigan. In his eulogy Singleton focused on I Corinthians 15:58 and Matthew 28 for walking the narrow path. He reminded the congregation that the church of Corinth had problems. But like Paul, ministers “should preach according to Scriptures.” “Death,” he noted, “shall be done away with. No more dying, no more trouble, no more cancer, no more diabetes, no more heart trouble. Thank God for Jesus. Death will be destroyed and the sins of it.” Singleton charged all in attendance to be baptized like Coleman, in the name of Jesus: “There’s blood in that pool, and when you go down in the body of Jesus, you get up with a change in mind, until you’re filled with the Holy Ghost.” In keeping with Singleton’s stance, Minister J. C. Johnson, Jr. asserted that the vision God gave Coleman extended far beyond Greater Bethlehem Temple: “It is for the people of God everywhere, all over this country and world.” This vision, as recalled by a grandson of Coleman’s, was expressed in Coleman’s own words to those who were with him during his last days: “If you’ve got God, keep Him. If you don’t have Him, get Him.”
